Call for Scientific Demos and Artistic Projects
Important dates
- Demo and proposal submission date: June 13th, 2025, 23:59 AOE
- Notification of acceptance: Monday June 30th, 2025
Motivation
SCIENTIFIC DEMOS focus on the presentation and exhibition of implemented systems. If you are working on a project of interest to the IVA community that has a demonstrable component, we encourage you to submit a demonstration paper.
ARTISTIC PROJECTS should have a clear relation with the design or use of intelligent virtual agents. This can include aesthetic considerations, human-machine-interactivity, critical discussion of AI and related technologies, embodiment, physical computing, and others. You should submit your art project together with an associated artistic paper that clarifies this relation.
Hosting a demo of your technical and/or art work is a great way to meet researchers in the field and receive feedback on your work. Accepted demos and works of art and artistic projects will be presented during a special session at IVA and the papers will be included in the conference proceedings, unless the authors do not want it published. Please note that this is an on-site event and attendance is required.
Submitting your demo or artistic project
Demonstration and artistic paper submissions should be maximum 2 pages long including images, with 1 additional page for references and 1 additional page detailing all technical requirements for the presentation of the demo at the venue. The authors should include in their submissions:
- Demo or art work title
- Authors and Presenters: affiliation, email address, selected contact person
- Rationale: Explain why the system or artistic project demonstrated is of interest to the IVA research community.
- System explanation:
- For scientific demos: give a short explanation of the system, explain its use cases and how it helps bridge a specific knowledge gap.
- For artistic projects: give a short overview of the accompanying artistic research and an insight into the technical realization of the project.
- Video material (optional): We recommend that demo submissions include a hyperlink to a video of the demo or the art work. The video should be no more than 5 minutes long.
- The additional technical and logistical requirements page for the demo and artistic projects should include everything necessary to run and display the demo (e.g., one external monitor, two headsets, one table, etc.), incl. Images and sketches if applicable. Please indicate what technical equipment you bring with you.
Please use the ACM Standard format for your submission, more specifically the SigConf format template.
