{"id":156,"date":"2022-11-18T11:40:09","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T11:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iva.acm.org\/2023\/?page_id=156"},"modified":"2025-02-25T23:09:34","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T23:09:34","slug":"call-for-workshops","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iva.acm.org\/2025\/call-for-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Workshops\/Tutorials"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 style=\"font-size:3em; padding-top: 40px;\">Call for Workshops\/Tutorials<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Important Dates<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop\/tutorial proposal submission date: <strong>March 9, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notification of acceptance: <strong>March 14, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Motivation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>IVA 2025 is looking for exciting proposals for half-day or full-day workshops or tutorials to be held on September 16, 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s conference theme is <strong>Aesthetics and Culture<\/strong>: Exploiting aesthetic principles and cultural nuances for the interaction between humans and Socially Interactive Agents to mitigate user trust, comfort, and willingness to interact, reducing barriers in social human-machine interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workshops <\/strong>provide a forum for community members to discuss common interests of the IVA community in a focused way. Your workshop could, for example, (a) address a pre-defined set of focus questions, (b) present alternative views on particular issues and attempts to resolve them, (c) identify priorities for new research directions, and\/or (d) initiate appropriate collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note<\/em>: The workshop papers <strong>will be published<\/strong> in an adjunct publication with the IVA conference proceedings published by ACM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tutorials<\/strong> are intended to provide a high-quality learning experience to participants with a varied range of backgrounds. It is expected that tutorials are self-contained and structured to: (a) introduce foundational concepts or techniques relevant to the IVA community, (b) explore emerging tools, methods, or frameworks, (c) offer hands-on experiences or demonstrations, and\/or (d) provide insights into practical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organisers of accepted workshops or tutorials are expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan, announce, and coordinate the workshop or tutorial<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up and maintain a website, linked to the official IVA website, with information about the workshop or tutorial, materials, and a summary of the outcomes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create and distribute their call for papers or participation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect and review submissions and decide on the final programme&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that participants are informed of the need to register for the workshop or tutorial<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register for IVA 2025 early (at least one of the organisers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submission Requirements<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Please email your proposal to <a href=\"mailto:workshopchairs@iva.acm.org\">workshopchairs@iva.acm.org<\/a> using the subject line: \u201cWS-IVA 2025 | [Your Workshop\/Tutorial Acronym]\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Describe your workshop or tutorial using the following structure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workshop or tutorial title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organiser(s), affiliation(s), email address(es), corresponding person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General theme of the workshop or tutorial<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevance of the topic of interest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Objectives of the workshop or tutorial<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the workshop or tutorial has been organised before, describe why it should be repeated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duration (full or half day) and tentative schedule<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For workshops<\/strong>: paper review and publication plan (expected number of submissions, list of confirmed and tentative PC members);
